Divas in Congress Battle Obama, Gingrich Switches Sides, Council On Foreign Relations Wants More Oil Before Going to War

Supporting a third war sounds odd during a time of financial turmoil in the United States. Fortunately, President Obama is not interested in being in Libya for a long period of time, nor does he desire to have American forces command and control the mission. Which is why I am okay with us going to Libya to support NATO.
The President's error was not talking to the divas in congress before going all the way in on Qaddafi. Although, I believe congress would have voted to go into Libya anyway. They are human, and have egos of their own that need stroking, which is why they are trying to make this ruckus about not being consulted. DC Republicans, always in favor of war, especially with Muslims, have taken this opportunity to try to bash President Obama. They say he waited too long, and I agree partially. President Obama did take longer than I would have liked to get this Odyssey Dawn thing going. But I said "I agree partially" because DC Republicans are being inauthentic. The truth is they want us in Libya, they want Qaddafi out, and they covet the Libyan oil. They are upset because President Obama has decided to let NATO, specifically France take the lead which means we won't be able to get the oil. To them there is no point in going to Libya, if not for the oil. The desire of the Libyan people means very little to DC Republicans. Freedom & democracy is something only reserved for American born people, specifically ones that share their skin color.

The Media makes the views of the politicians seem more complex than it really is. It's hard for our American pundits and anchors to decipher the true feelings of politicians when they don't all use the same partisan talking points handed down from party headquarters. The politicians are all where they should be, liberals like Kucinich are against our being in Libya and bombing, he considers it an act of war. Nothing odd or novel about a liberal in America being against war. Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House, and the guy that was busy trying to impeach President Clinton for lying about his affair with Monica Lewinsky. At that same time pious Mr. Gingrich was cheating on his own wife. Gingrich's wife at that time, was also his former mistress, until he divorced his wife that was recovering from Cancer. Inauthentic seems to be the prerequisite for the RNC, but I digress. Gingrich was for the No-fly zone, until President Obama was for it also, this has been a trend in the Republican party since the non-white President has come to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. If you listen to the pundits on CNN they make it seem like these politicians, Democrats & Republicans, have staked out some new original territory in regards to their feelings on the war in Libya, but they have not.
The only person I can say has some sort of surprising stance on this war in Libya is Richard Haass from the Council on Foreign Relations. He is against the war, that to me is unique. Mr. Haass says "Libya accounts for only 2 percent of world oil production. The scale of the humanitarian crisis is not unique; indeed, this is not strictly speaking a humanitarian intervention."
That part sounds pretty normal coming from the Council on Foreign Relations, deciding to go to war based on the amount of oil we can get and not caring about the number of people killed in an African country unless there is significant amount of oil for us in it.That odd part is that they can even pass up any amount of oil, I am surprised, and happy that they have shown some sense of being able to not have a one-track mind about war and American foreign policy, but I disagree with him, as usual.
Richard Haass is clearly unable to see past military intervention being just a tool of resource grabbing and regime change, usually regime change for left leaning leaders in favor of right wing dictators which they seem to prefer over there at the COFR.
The United States should have no fear or shame when it comes to using our armed forces to help people crying out for freedom and democracy. That is our thing! We have sold this idea to the world that we are the freedom and democracy people, it's time to live up to it, without the expectation of always getting oil in exchange for our participation.
